Photo Diary: Atlas Franklin Alexander
Last week, Newcastle-based post-punk artist Atlas Franklin Alexander released his single ‘Crave’. To celebrate the release, he was kind enough to put together a little photo diary of some of the best times in his musical and personal life. So let’s dive into it.
This picture is of all the legends that were involved in the making of the ‘crave’ video. We shot it all one afternoon in the Hunter Valley in NSW. It was shot on an empty country road with no one around except for a few horses and a bunch of cows looking on.
This is our makeshift dolly we used shooting ‘crave’. We rigged up a car and shot it all out of the window. Somehow, we pulled it off using seat belts, rope, occy straps and whatever we could find to keep it all together.
Post-show picture from about 2 weeks ago on Oxford Street. The picture is Skarkett (who plays drums in the band) and myself during Mardi-Gras.
Who can resist a picture with a dog and bananas. This is Croc, my sister's dog down in Tasmania. Croc loves bananas and a sneaky tongue kiss when you're least expecting it.
The benefits of living in a car and finding remote places to make music. There was a time when I lived in my car and this picture is up in the northern rivers. I spent most of my time in this place, recording in this rusty outdoor gym. I had to keep going back to cafes to charge my laptop, not ideal but groovy times.
Nubra Valley, Northern India. It was so hot you needed an umbrella to escape the rays. That day was 43 degrees. In the Blistering heat, monsoon season, an umbrella is a very good option to take out on a day trip.
Western Australia in the Kimberly. A beautifully remote sanctuary. So remote and so beautiful. I borrowed a dirt bike to get around. I was volunteering in a community called Frog Hollow, beautiful people and a beautiful place.
