Darcy Lane releases ‘Spines’

Some people just know how to write perfect little indie-pop songs that make you go “fuck, that is good”. And although she has only released two singles, I see Darcy Lane as being one of those people.
Darcy's first since her 2020 debut ‘Relentless Forces’, ‘Spines’ is a song that will make you want to hone in on the lyrics as well as move your body to the grooves (a combination which is sure to make for a vibe on the dancefloor). On the meaning behind the song, Darcy says ‘Spines’ is about falling for a friend but neither of you have enough backbone to make the first move”.
Apart from Darcy’s catchy melodies and personal lyrics, the production by Alex McIntyre and Oscar Sharah is a real standout on the track. The ability to make it dark yet danceable without taking anything away from the song is an achievement and a half. Hopefully, there is more to come from Darcy, Alex & Oscar because what they’ve created in ‘Spines’ is simply incredible.
