Premiere: Jacob Fitzgerald Releases Music Video For ‘Muse’
Some music videos just know how to capture the vibe of a song. I would put the video for ‘Muse’ by Jacob Fitzgerald in that category.
Directed by Cameron Mitchell, the new video is pretty raw and bare bones. Although the video takes place entirely in a recording studio, it gives a real essence of what it would be like to see Jacob and his band live.
Coming along in a bit of a spontaneous fashion, Fitzgerald describes how the video came to be, “A good friend (Mitchell) who owns a production company came to film the recording session. I asked him to come and document some of the session and capture the vibe of our day in the studio. It ended up being a really good energy and we thought “fuck, maybe we could make this into a music video as well”, So that’s what we did”.
Check out the music video below.
The song itself is quite reminiscent of late 2000s-early 2010s garagey blues rock bands such as The Black Keys and The Raconteurs. On the inspiration behind Muse, Fitzgerald explains “Essentially, there are times where I'm writing about love/lust, but I’m not actively in love or possessing a similar feeling. In those situations, I found I naturally gravitate to basing the subject around this one particular person. To be honest, I don’t even really know her, but she somehow is tattooed into my subconscious and is someone I can draw inspiration from, every single time. I dunno, she just has the ‘thing’”.
Having just completed an East Coast tour, I’m excited to see what Jacob has to share next.
