How good are friends? This isn’t a rhetorical question, I want to know. What’s it like having friends and where do you get them? While I wait for the answers, let’s chat about ‘Take Your Time’.

‘Take Your Time’ is the new single by West London-based trio Slaney Bay. The track tackles the issue of breaking up with a friend and it does it in quite a sensitive way. On the song, frontwoman Cait Whitley says “We wanted to condense that feeling of loss but not in the typical romantic sense. Friendship break-ups almost feel harder, because you don’t sign up thinking it could end”.

Upon the first listen, Caits vocals really stood out to me. They are sweet and vulnerable while also getting her message across quite confidently. This along with the instrumental that builds from an acoustic picking pattern all the way to a full-blown rock band by the end gives the track a real ‘I want to listen again’ energy.

With a few more tracks to already check out on all the usual streaming places, I can’t wait to hear what Slaney Bay has to share with the world next.
